Independent's Day - Event

This was my first event in Columbus, OH and I loved it!
It was a beautiful day, and there were a lot of people enjoying the Saturday, the music, and the event. Unfortunately, I forgot to take a picture of my tent this time, which means I was really busy the whole day. We stayed until a little bit before 10 pm. It was great! I wanted to thank everyone that stopped by and also thank the organizers.
Go crafters!

Let's enjoy some Picnic time!

I am so excited to introduce my new project!
It just looks so adorable, I am already attached to it.
I made a place mat set and napkins set, a table runner, and I am finishing the picnic blanket.
I myself hand printed the pink cupcakes on the fabric using silk screen - with the hubby's help, of course! His printmaking skills were very useful!
What I am loving is that you can take the place mats to the picnic as they roll in a easy way to carry. Also, it has a pocket for the silverware, so no worries about loose forks and knives.
The blanket still is in process, and I am interlining it with light polyester batting for some softness. You know how sometimes you lay a blanket and it is still hard to sit and if the grass is a little wet it goes though - horrible! - so, I am making sure it is nice and soft, and because of the poly batting, moisture will have a little trouble going through.
I hope to post it on my Etsy soon, so keep checking because this is the only one with this combination of tan linen/pink details.

Moving around!

It is been a long time since my last post, but moving is very demanding.
Yes, I am in the mid-west now and have a smaller studio than before.
So, since I feel like a perfect mid-west housewife I started making jellies and jams.
-- Oh, and sorry for my generalization
and misconception about mid-west housewives --
Anyways, my flavors were:
Lavender Peach, Strawberry Rhubarb, and White Peach + White Grape + Chadornnay.
I am not sure yet if I will post on my Etsy or not, even though they are delicious, they make great gifts too.
I made it with very low -organic- sugar, organic, fresh, and local fruit and juice.
I have it in 4, 8, and 12 oz.

Matthew Williamson for H&M

How lucky are we girls to have something like H&M store, so we can get Matthew Williamson pieces for so cheap? The collection is fresh and colorful. You can't miss it. Matthew as always is bold on his colors and designs making us "black dress girls" desire to wear some fun neon brightness on our outfits. Some of my favorites of the collection are the "Black printed kimono shirt with a hot pink studded leather belt", the "green skinny pants, printed top, and brown jacket", the "green silk dress with a V embroidery detail", and the "gorgeous beaded vest with blue skirt".
Another great thing of H&M website is the Style Guide. You can even print out your own style favorites combinations and see how much everything cost, like these ones I made.

THE 80'S ARE BACK!!!

Lets talk about trends for Fall!!!

1. Shoulders!!! We've seen a lot of high power shoulders out there. Did anyone see Rihanna's suit at the Met Gala? Yes, that's what we are talking about. Big shoulders! You never thought that was going to come back, right? But there are a number of cuter shoulder details out.

2. Going Pantless! Ii is in! Lady Gaga, Ciara, Chanel Iman, and other celebrities are all taking their pants off. Are we mere mortals going to do the same? I don't know! However, let's not just focus on the pants people! This means, super short dresses are back! Another Met Gala example: Kate Moss, Jessica Stam, Gisele, Victoria Beckham, among many others were gladly showing their Leg Curl workout achievement.
Ok! So, by now we already have that famous "V" shape of the 80's.. what's next?

3. Boyfriends jackets paired with thigh-high boots. I know, I am screaming too! Designers like Hussein Chalayan, Prada, Isabel Marant, and Costume National to name a few all showed the combination in their Fall '09 shows.

What is staying?
Defined waists and leggings.
But seriously, guys should not be allowed to wear skinny jeans.

Blocks and Jewelry

I was taking some pictures of my earrings to post on Etsy and I stumbled across some of my husband's art pieces. It was right there in front of me and I had to capture it. If I had arranged that way it wouldn't torn out that perfect.
